where i come from driving these is a part of the Forestry & natural resources technician education, but you don't need to have that education in order to get a job driving one. but you can and will be paid less, and be paid less fr each tree/load that you take down//out.
but having the education gives you experience, and quite a bunch of certs. you need an encironmental/emission certificate to drive in forests owned by the state and conservated areas, and you can only get these certs by completing the education.
i'm aprox. 70% through the education so far..
