It sucks because it makes good leather boots a boutique item, driving their prices up to retarded levels.
So now you're stuck between paying $300 for shitty goretex fabric boots with 0 durability or paying $500 for mountaineering boots.
I exaggerate of course, you can still find full grain leather boots at reasonable prices, but its a lot more tricky to pick good quality since they're no longer the focus for mainstream brands.
