Update on my accidental/volunteer pumpkins (and butternuts).
Here's what the sprawling vines look like now. Jungle-like, almost. You'll see that section in the middle where the leaves look all yellowed and dying. That's where the brunt of the squash bug infestation occurred. There and around the edges. Thankfully, my squash bug genocide seems to have been successful. Very few to be found now, nymphs and adults alike. Still finding some egg clusters here and there, but nothing that's not easily scraped off.
I'm so fucking proud of these boys. Even though they were wounded in the middle by disgusting filth, they continue to push forward, developing new vines and new foliage every day. Every morning I wake up to more open flowers as well. It's constant. These fuckers are making pumpkins left and right, as you'll see here in just a sec.
