Sort of an old wives tale/semi confirmed rumour I used to hear back in my army days that they did for a time think about weaponising the Giant Stinging Tree as a biological or chemical agent to dump on the Japanese. Never actually got around to digging up 'how' or the specifics of getting the toxin out of the plant and into some kind of delivery agent or if they where just going to dump the leaves on enemy troops to blunder into and be left in screaming pain for months at a time.
Plenty of old timers have stories as well of dogs, horses and bullocks being killed by it.
