>>1204608>>1205838Hey, it's you! You inspired me to do some Yuro thru hikes this year
Can you help me out with a tricky bit of gear selection? I'm trying to work out the best way to have full bug protection on the ground, but also bring a hammock, but take a tarp with doors (for blasting wind and winter). Here's what I've planned to get/make:
>A hammock (with knotty's mods to make it shorter and a dedicated half bugnet)>A moulded foam pad to fit under the hammock (in lieu of an underquilt) to serve as a ground pad too>A bivvy (MLD Bivy 2 style)>A topquilt>A sheet of reflectix or Tread lite UK Aluminum xpac (good piece of new gear)>A cuben stuff storage sack as a pillow>Cuben 0.71 tarp with doors (for hammock and ground shelter, DIY)How does that sound? I'll be going to areas with barely any trees for days, and I'd like the option to go to ground without a tarp too, hence the bivvy
See any way to improve this? Maybe a way to cut out or dual purpose gear, or increase the bivvy to a more liveable size, perhaps for 2 people, and suggestions for a thin pad I can use as a pack frame?
