>>2425088It's fine really. But these are small and light, I've never used the big ones on front racks so I can't tell.
I passed through some ridiculous mountainous rocky road/paths on this trip and if anything the front packs help the front wheel stay on the ground. This is actually a known benefit of front loading, it helps when doing off road shit.
What was clearly limiting me on these murderous rocky paths were my tyres.
Btw, the "deflate you tyres when going off road" is definitely not a meme, I'm such a retard for not taking this obvious advice sooner. It definitely helps a lot to smoothen your ride and improve grip. Here I was riding Marathon Mondial at almost full PSI on dirty rocky roads, singletrack and whatnot on an already underbiked bike. Retard.
Also, there's a reason so many people use cycling shorts/bibs. These things work. I decided to try some cheap Decathlon shorts under my regular pants on my latest 2 nights trips and yeah, they do make the ride comfier and prevent some pain I had on other trips. At first I didn't want to use them because "muh brand new Brooks saddle will take care of everything, no needs for these" and while this is true for some people and could also be true for me if I let "muh break-in" do its thing I just wanted to test and yeah, sprung Brooks saddle + cycling shorts is a winning team. I'm never gonna use bibs though, come on, there are limits.

And now that I know these things work, I might buy some more expensive ones from known brands.
I ride with these:
