when i go camping, i drive over twelve hours to get to a campsite with parking and often amenities, like a shitter and well water, in the mountains. i look up beforehand cool trails within a two hour drive of that campsite. then every day, i drive to a different trailhead and hike all day long in the mountains, with a absolutely manageably sized backpack full of stuff i need for just one hike, hardly seeing anyone. always driving back to that same campsite. then a week later i leave having seen an awesome variety of environments. instead of camping at one campsite and hiking only around that one campsite.
is it as legitimate as backpacking into the woods with only what i can carry on my back and being completely immersed in untouched nature? maybe not but I don't care. anyone who's seriously bitching about this stuff is more of a larping outdoors faggot than the person they're bitching about.
