And you don't understand how wilderness works in the US. There are national and state parks, some of which you pay entrance fees too; but those are only a small fraction of the wilderness. There are huge areas of BLM and state land open to the public with pretty much no restrictions on anything. I don't pay entrance fees anywhere I camp. See pic related.
