I just wan't a heavy duty back system with an UL bag strapped on top of it, but without thousands of little gadgets and shit added on top.
Pic related (BDEL shadow, 2004?) is quite close, but it carries like shit if you're going over 15kg and at 45l, it's a tad too small. But other than that, it's perfect! No foam anywhere. Two compression straps, two daysichains, ice tool and crampon attachments (the latter also working for about anything else), large top compartment and that's it.
