So I have a couple seasons of gardening under me belt, but somehow missed how to best turn lawns into farmland.
Last season I just tore up the sod in strips, added leaf mulch from the previous fall, and planted in that. But I've heard it's better to flip the sod over, till it in, and plant in that. Thoughts?

Last season I uprooted the sod and removed it, and then tilled the soil underneath that and added some straw on top. I've heard it's better to leave the sod there, till it in with the rest of the soil, and then add some mulch on top. Thoughts?
