But I've been to the Ruahine before and was pleasantly surprised by what I found
I hiked on the western side and was expecting something generic and recovering from past cuts but ended up in beautiful old growth beech forest from the get go (well after having crossed the mandatory private sheep paddock kek)
Also seems like a good place to escape international tourists, I'm not a kiwi only came in your country for a couple years so I interact with a lot of other foreigners and none ever had any idea where the Ruahine even are
