I have an MEC Ibex 80 for /out/ backpacking. An MEC Supercontinent 45 for /trv/ backpacking. And an MEC Pod daypack I use for both.
All have been through heavy, hard use (especially the POD which I've used every day for years, across continents, over mountains...) and there's not a loose stitch on any of them.
I have the 80L camping bag because I like to keep everything in my bag (air mattress, cookgear, etc.). My travel pack at ~45L is the smallest I've ever seen a backpacker with, but it has more than enough room so I'm really not sure how other people think they need ~80L packs to travel (MUCH nicer traveling with a pack that can fit on your lap and doesn't make you stick out so much).
