It's a fine stopgap for traveling on the bike, but the ONLY reason I see to do it is that you're already going to be traveling on a motorcycle and don't want to depend on hotels. Going out of your way to buy a bike specifically for that is going to be costly and still have less comfort than carrying camping stuff in a car.
