What would cause a tomato plant to wilt from the middle-up only?
I have two tomato plants that grew great for a while, and now seem to be dying. The first one went before the second, but the second is now beginning to yellow as well.
Starting at the middle and spreading upward the leaves slowly turn yellow and then die, but oddly the lower half of the plants still seem perfectly green. The first one has actually withered all the way to its tip and ended up sprouting a second main stem from a sucker around the middle, to continue growing.
At first I suspected a soil issue or a fungus or something, but the plants are potted, they're not touching, and they're not even using remotely the same types of soil.
What potential causes are left? They're under cover, so I doubt they're getting too much sun, but the temps here are mid-90s F every day. Could it simply be too hot for them?
