>>2374724Oh I would've had another pole with some more substantial bait on it, but this trip was her first time in a canoe. So I did it as relaxed as possible to get her introduced to fishing and boating. Next time we might fish for some bigger fish. I personally have a genetic compulsion to fish off the bottom. I almost never use a float unless I'm vertical jigging or slip corking for crappie. We caught all those panfish yesterday on worms and splitshots. I always like to teach people how to fish without a bobber first, and show them how to feel a bite and how to watch their line. After an hour she was just pullin fish out of the water, caught more than me. No bobber, no indicator, just a finger on the line feeling for a bite. It's my favorite way of fishing. It's really simple, but is a high success rate of fishing. We were catching fish so fast we couldn't throw them back quick enough.
