My preference is the folding camp saws. At <$10 each, I'll buy a few and keep one in my pack and another on my sled. Hose them down with WD40 and they'll stay in good shape for a while. Rips through wood.
If i'm doing a lot of treecutting, i'll just bring a chainsaw.
