>>1632342>>1632354>>1632349The main problem is that their crap is runny and they tend to muddy up their drinking water instantly. If you keep them away from water, so they are never in a pond or whatever, they will be less messy. Having an automatic waterer attached to a hose with a pressure regulator and a drain under it will also help a great deal. When it rains, the ducks pretty much destroy everything with their bills, making holes all over the place. Chickens are much easier.
Here's this morning's parade of my poultry. The ducks explode from the coop as soon as the door opens and nearly fly down to the pond.
>>1632357Depending on how large the tree is, you can put insect cloth over the entire thing after the blossoms fall off and the fruit starts to develop. When it comes to flying insects, there's really not much else you can do if you don't want to use pesticides. If the fruit is already being attacked, you can use smoke to help drive off insects, before putting on insect cloth.
If the problem is something like wasps and bees, like yellow jackets, then you can setup traps for them. You can make a trap out of a soda bottle. Just cut the bottle in half, stick the top of the bottle upside down into the bottom of the bottle, pour in a little water, some rotten fruit, and a bit of sugar. Hang those up in around the tree then empty and refill as needed. Other types of insects will need various types of traps or trap crops you'll need to use for each species.
