Timex Ironman watches fill this role well too.
Analog is cool, but it will never hold up to the durability of a digital display, especially if it has an automatic movement. Shock is a big no-no for those kinds of watches and hands/internal parts are prone to dislodge.
As for solar powered watches, I personally wouldn't buy into it. Do they work? Yes they do- but rechargable batteries don't last forever and you will inevitably need change the battery with a not-so-easy-to-find more-expensive rechargable cell.
Standard batteries are fine, most digital watches use CR2016s, and they are just as plentiful as AA / AAA batteries.
