>>1106008I was lucky to get 1 melon per vine this year. I'm hunting up some, "Carolina Cross." I'm tired of these wee tiny single-person watermelons.
>>1106143Both. It is pretty easy for the most part. If you want to save money, learn how to take cultures and spores to make your own from store bought and foraged mushrooms.
>>1106144>How long does it take for compost to completely decompose to humus? There's a lot of factors at work that determines how long that process takes in your garden. Humus is great for plants, fyi.
>manureManures normally need to be composted for a rather long amount of time. Like a year for some and 3 years for others. It depends on your goal too. If you want humus from horse manure, it will take about 3 years just laying out on the ground in a pile. For simply composting hot and rendering chicken manure safe for plants, 6 to 9 months. That will help kill bad microorganisms as well as reduce the high nitrogen content to a safer level for being used for fertilizer. There's a all kinds of ways to do these process and I really encourage you to look them up and see what fits your needs best. The alternative, when done incorrectly, is disease-sick plants, root-burned plants, and sickness for yourself.
