>>909803That's exactly what I'm doing with mine. Die cut tape is the cheap way to go. Powder coated or air brushed are more professional, but they requires a larger outlay of money to start.
If you do get into it and use split rings, get a pair of split ring pliers. I'm still finding split rings that shot in random directions when I didn't have the proper tool for them.
