>>214441It is part of the old Gentlemen meme from 2008. This is 4chan after all.
>>214439I agree. Where I live there are too many power outages to be relying on the grid for aquaponics. I'd probably have wind turbines (VAWT) instead of solar though.
>>214457Start with what you like to eat. Focus on growing that and researching about it.
>>214458Manure needs to age so that oxygen can get to it. The easiest way is to have enough growing space to let one section be fallow. On that section you pile compost, fresh manure, etc and turn it once in a while if it is really thick. As part of crop rotation that section will age and replenish soil nutrients. Next season you till it and plant while leaving a different section fallow to repeat the process. I recommend planting a cover crop too.
>>214466>damn brah, try avoid it and use alternatives if you canIt is fine so long as you don't use a too much. The main concern with peat moss is the destruction of peat bog habitats. It is best used in seedling potting soils where as manure and compost are best used for your main gardening soil. If you can't get compost or manure, use peat moss to condition help your soil.
>>214490Garlic is pretty easy to grow in containers. I do it for the green tops on occasion. They do fairly well with a window that gives 4 hours of direct sun light each day. Garlic tolerates frost, but will have problems when temps are in the 20F range. You can still bring them in if temps are in the 30F range.
>What should I grow?Whatever you like to eat. If you have a sunny window you can grow quite a bit. Take this setup for instance. That window gets 4 hours of sunlight or less. So, a cardboard window box was made to help reflect ambient light back to the plants. For a window that gets a little more sunlight only white-painted reflectors would be needed. This one gets less, so it uses aluminum foil reflectors.
