At the beach (OBX) with GF+her parents. Weather is super shitty so no luck fishing, but we've caught a bunch of crabs and are trying to saving them up for a few days to get enough for a dinner.
What is the best method for this? We were keeping them in a cooler and swapping the water our every few hrs, but they were soon piled on top of eachother. I had the brilliant idea of taking one of our pots out of service and keeping all the crabs in that, atleast that way they have a little room and better water flowing over them. How bad of an idea is this?
Thought about a keepnet, don't want to pay out the ass for one. Planned to make one from a laundry hamper. Will the crabs "cut" their way out of that?
TLDR- what is the best way to keep some crabs alive for a few days until we can amass enough of them to have a dinner?
Bonus points- thoughts on baits? I've had acceptable results with chicken gizzards. Others I should look into?
