Contour rider here. Why? Mainly because of the lower-profile, sits low and tight on my helmet instead of hanging off the side waiting to catch a branch.
I picked up a Roam (1, not the newer Roam2) a few weeks ago. So far I like it.
The timelapse is pretty neat; my old ContourHD didn't do that. The video quality's "good enough", not terrific, but usable.
"Downside" with the roam vs. my old 1080, is the non-removable battery. But to be perfectly honest ... the Roam has a larger (about 300mAh) battery and in a day's worth of off-road riding, camera on and off occasionally through the day, I didn't even hit 50% battery. Nice thing about the Roam... slide the switch on, it powers up and records, slide the switch off, it stops recording and shuts down. My 1080 required you to turn the camera on, THEN slide on teh REC switch. Otherwise it wouldn't actually record. Missed a lot of footage because of that.
Best part about 'em ... turn the camera on/record, look at something, and you've got a photo of it. Don't have to stop and fidget with a camera.
Pic related, old 1080 on my dualsport helmet.
