Slightly harrowing planting this afternoon. The pepper beetles were brutal last year and the cold spring delayed pepper planting and these cayennes already had flowers and I found a beetle already on one before I even got it in the ground. So these will spend pretty much their whole lives safely under row cover.
>>2377964Looks like a nice spot. What you plant should depend on what you like to eat and the effort you want to put in. Your neighbor looks like they have some rocking asparagus which is a nice spring treat with little effort, but it's only for a few weeks. Squash, tomatoes etc can be more work but more reward if you love them. I say just start there, with what you'd most like to enjoy.
