For example, if one wants to discuss an expedition to find squirrels or whatnot, then the animal should be second to the expedition itself.
The idea being not to let the animal dominate the topic, which is more suited to /an/.
I should think any game animal topic, with the emphasis on the hunt having primacy, or the nature of how the animal factors into the hunt.
I am stuck in the stinky city and am looking forward to outdoor stories from hunters, fishers and trappers. Or even forestry. I'm not sure where environmental conservation fits. Animals & Nature, is my guess. I guess it fits here too, as such matters often affect hunters and general outdoorsmen
