>>2259523>ThoreauWasn't that fucker a LARPer or am I thinking of some other "mythical" outdoorsy american figure?
>Could I make a log cabin?Make an unnaground house, I dare you.
Otherwise, I guess you could, probably illegally. Then again check the local rules, for example in my country I can build a shed up to 12sqm without any permit, but in reality no one really cares unless you really go overboard with it.
>Is this feasible in these conditions?Nah, forget the "living off the land" meme. It's not easy and it doesn't start working from one day to the next.
A more realistic approach would be:
Ask you friend(s) for permission to build a small cabin there (and I mean small, something like 3x4m or 4x4m), go camping for a couple of weeks while you build the cabin.
Stock up some food (canned stuff and other things that last for months with no refrigeration) and water there, gardens take months to grow when everything goes right, if you're a noob everything will go wrong.
Then after having permanent shelter and some basic necessities you can go be a crazy hobo innawoods safely (well, safely-ish).
Don't forget to stock up on toilet paper.
>I don’t really want to be eating wombats. You just wouldn't be able to, they are too cute to kill.
