I grew up with water from a pump, non reliant electricity (2 days constant at best), no tv and no fridge. Small island, old way of life and no light pollution. I've since come to North America and live in a fairly big city on the West Coast. What gets me everytime is when I walk the downtown area; Impressively tall buildings with tons of people from all different backgrounds. Seems weird but I have an almost childlike wonder to it?
I can"t really say that I "belong" in the suburban/rural areas nor can I say that I really enjoy the city. It's always been a nice self reflection when I compare it to how I was brought up. When I do go to a park in the city I like to sit down, eat and just look all around and take in the surroundings. It's the culmination of our current civilization, I feel that we might as well take it all in as much as we can. Balance it out, I suppose
