I have a small pond in my back yard, and I want to make it as wildlife-friendly as possible. What are some good nectar producing flowers for insects and hummingbirds? And are there any small plants that birds like to eat, that are easy/fast to grow?
I was thinking Sun Flowers, just because birds love the seeds and they produce plenty.
Extra challenge: When it rains, the front and sides flood. There's only one raised area that doesn't flood. Any plants that can tolerate submerged roots/base for a couple of days?
I'd also like to get some kind of vine to grow around the structure.
Pic related: it was an old fire pit. I dug it out a little bit and builta couple things, threw in some logs & rocks. Any improvement tips will be appreciated - but it's geared more towards function for wildlife than appearance
