>>2304018>been wanting one of the crkt tommy for awhile now. how are they really? The factory edge is total shit and they benefit from actual sharpening. I had my uncle tune mine up as a christmas gift, and it's now a worthwhile camp axe.
I only have my Woods-Chogan thawk, but I've watched a few reviews on other CRKT axes. The factory cutting edge is typically way too fat/thick, so the damn things want to rebound really badly.
>>2304162>the heads are hydraulically pressed onUh, mine wasn't fitted on at all. Mine came with the handle loose and secured with a rubber band. They make the user do the work of sitting the head on the handle.
>>2304816Question, where do you source decent axe handles? At my local store I'm only able to find straight handles like for splitters, Boy's Axe handles and hatchet handles. There's no forestry kind of axe handles to be seen.
Otherwise, I fixed up this hatchet today. First time replacing a handle myself.
I should have probably gotten it lower on the shoulder, but the head is super tight. Will treat it (and others) with BLO once spring rolls around.
