I've worn this pair of Thorogood American Heritage for everything for years. They need a little saddle soap and fresh coat of beeswax, but they've served me well.
LARPers tell me they're not /out/ but's never stopped me from wearing them /out/. From Florida to Alaska I've worn them hiking in snow, sand, and swamp. I've worn them for farm work, camping, weeks of field work, and just about anything else. Haven't had to replace the soles yet, but the insoles need changing with normal frequency. They're good year welted and Thorogood offers resoling services for when the sole does wear out.
Make sure you get a boot that can be resoled if you are a "buy once cry once" guy, shoe soles literally cannot be BIFL if you actually use them. Do your research and expect to pay a couple hundred at least for the right boots for you.
