Won't say I'm an A+++ rider, but on the bike you're paying more attention to what's happening around you than you do in a cage.
I push myself and know the limits of my bike/gear/equipment.
People also tend to give you a little more room when you're on a dirt bike in less than ideal weather.
Still, ride smart, ride safe, pay attention, ride within your skills, etc.
I trust my armor, and can honestly say I probably wouldn't be here typing this today if it weren't for UHMW/polycarbonate/other assorted plastics, spectrashield, various densities of closed-cell foams, kevlar, cordura, etc. Shit works.
Up to you to decide where the risk exceeds the benefit.
