Found a digital camera on a ski slope a few years ago. The ski area was shut down since their lease with the FS expired, local snowmobile club does an end-of-season ride/barbeque out there.
Riding way up on top of the ridge, saw something in the snow/ice. It was the lanyard. Chipped the camera out of the ice, stuffed it in my pack, and forgot about it till I was unpacking at home.
Oddly the camera still worked after being buried in teh snow/ice for over two months. Scraped the pics off the card, emailed the club, emailed the ski area, posted a found-item on craigslist... I think the owners were from australia based on the cars in the photos.
At the end of the summer, after getting nothing but spam and incorrect descriptions of the camera... burned the contents of the card to a CD, bought a cheap charger for it, wiped the datacard, and put the kit on ebay.
Pic related, roughly where I found the camera.
