Buy a good knife for hunting; helle and bark river are good. Only use them for processing game, nothing else. This knife needs to be kept scary sharp all the time so you can process an animal quickly without trouble. Needs to have a round spine to be able to "unzip" the belly to get guts out, needs a belly of some kind to skin properly, must have a good slicing geometry; flat grind with secondary bevel of small size, and a handle with some kind of guard (pic related) so it doesnt slide your hand onto the blade when wet. For whatever wood related stuff (feathersticking, carving, cutting etc) use a mora or an equivalent. Blade geometery should be either a scandi grind or a thin convex edge. Can be full tang but it isnt a neccesity. And for chopping of any kind for the love of god buy an axe, unless you want to get half the work done in twice the amount of time dont buy a big fuck off knife. You DONT need to baton, you DONT need to chop trees, you DONT need to pry things, you DONT NEED ANYTHING MORE THAN 3MM THICK. There is always an abundance of wood on the ground, burn that instead of splitting logs with your gay ass fucking knife.
If you need a knife for shtf buy a kabar + the above. A dedicated fighting knife is good to have, but dont carry it everywhere like a spaz. Buy a gun instead.
