>>1316144>What's the cheapest option for irrigation? That depends on where you live. Flood irrigation is cheapest long term, but requires lots of ditch digging and access to a body of water. Second cheapest and easiest are stationary, non-mechanical sprinklers. The kind that just hook to a garden hose, are of a certain shape, and have holes in them. They don't do anything other than spray water. They are the most reliable, but can waste water like any other sprinkler that sprays water into the air. The only maintenance you do is make sure the holes are clean. They don't break unless you drop them on something hard or run them over.
Soaker hoses will be the most expensive since they need to be replaced more often than anything else I know of. Drip irrigation is the best for water conservation, but is also pretty expensive if you have lots of plants.
If you have a huge area you need to water and don't want to spend an arm and a leg, use stationary sprinklers and a water timer system.
