I'm 45 years old, and grew up sailing with my dad, winning the local beer can regattas often enough to warrant more than one attempt to ban us. He was an old salt; before I was born, he'd raced in Bermuda. I haven't sailed in years, but I find myself wanting to buy a sailboat as old as I am with enough headroom (6'3") to live aboard in relative comfort, to reconnect with my late father and Viking ancestry. I want to cruise about, joining a new race every week, and live salty.
Do I buy one of these, fully equipped with #1, #2, #3, 1/2 & 3/4 sails et al, for about $20k?
I mean, I have about $40k I can dump into this. I'm just about ready to completely uproot myself and change my life completely by undertaking a circumnavigation of the world by sail, and I want to do it singlehanding a 40/45-footer.
