Not any better than comfy apartment living and desk job. Certainly not easier. The only way it really benifits is in a doomsdayish scenario, which is why it attracts those kinds of people.
I mainly like it from a private business angle. And being able to build a tiny little empire. Roads, paths, fences, walls, field, sheds, barns, crops, livestock, sawmill, ponds, selling products... maybe higher a hand or two.
