If you get a bib trout running downstream through a big riffle it may be too quick for the drag to compensate. I've always been told 1/4-1/2 is the best. Then again I've never measured it and only go by feel
>>1598878Bend your hooks out a little bit. You'll get hung up more but with 65 pound braid you can probably pull half the lily pads in the lake out of the lake bed. Also never set the hook when you see the splash even though it's a reflex. Set the hook when you feel the fish. A blind and deaf person would be a better frogger than most people for that reason. Same goes for sight fishing. I can't tell you how many times I've set the hook too soon when watching bass go after my jerkbait. Also if they take it and you don't feel it and it floats back up, dont automatically retrieve it. Often times bass will try to stun frogs and then eat them. Just leave it on the water and maybe give it a small twitch here or there. I've watched a bass take my buddy's frog 5 times in one retrieve no lie.
