I see all these youtubers just trying to wake up early and “get in the miles”, it’s like they are obsessed with going from point A to point B. I don’t understand why hikers do this unless it’s strictly for exercise. Isn’t the point to “get outdoors” like maybe do some writing in a tent or reading, to do bird watching or fishing or to meet other hikers roast marshmallows to make artwork or meditate and enjoy nature, not swiftly move through it as fast as you can with light equipment to get to some end goal. It seems like it completely defeats the purpose of being outdoors. I just can’t imagine that you would go outdoors to nature to just swiftly navigate through it like a goal obsessed autist.
