Bad news bros. I crunched the numbers of all the available candles I found that will fit and worked-out how much it costs per cubic cm of wax.
Frankly, buying anything local - even gigantic candles that aren't designed for the UCO lantern and that I would have to spend time chopping size and tapering, isn't really worth it. Buying the actual UCO brand candles from Amazon, shipped here from the US, gets me:
1) that actual correct product ready to use without a chance it'll burn poorly in the unit, and
2) pretty much the best cost per cubic cm of wax anyway
Well sheitte. I was really hoping to find a super cheap solution for candles so I wouldn't have to pop the fan heater on in my bedroom this winter, but when it comes to energy consumption I guess you just can't cheat.
2000W heater = 24,000 BTUs @ $0.50/hr
UCO Candlelier = 5,000 BTUs @ $1.32/hr
