>>1327101Like I don't mean to add to this whole thing but FYI they're actually more like propositions. Typically an argument is a series of propositions meant to prove a point. Their point being that they feel that the artifice of the meme of trail names is ultimately an insincere gesture by people who are hiking or camping for the purpose of checking off a list and creating a persona rather than being invested in the experience of the outdoors in general. While I understand that these are just for fun and I'm completely okay with them it can come off as very cheesy in person. Typically the people who are focused on 'trail names' and the like are from an upper middle class background and are focused on cultivating the illusion of sincerity or homeliness/wildness/down to earthness by adopting these kinds of practices.
Essentially it comes off as just another thing to tack on to your social media profile rather than having to do with your devotion to hiking/outdoors. It may have ultimately routes in something more sincere at a certain place in the past but has been hollowed out like most things by popular culture.
