>>14509>embolism Unless you dive down and take a breath off of someone's regulator and then ascend you have approximately the same chance of getting an embolism from freediving as you do getting swallowed whole by a great white 4 ft from the beach. In the Caribbean. (Unless you smoke cigarettes, which increases your risk. In which case I don't know what the fuck you are doing.)
Blackouts can occur but they happen when you're as retarded as the idiots that get decompression sickness from a 60 ft dive on scuba.
The reason I freedive is because it's quieter than scuba and gives a larger field of vision on the surface, which allows for better killing of fish. It's also faster and easier most of the time; please don't tell me you're one of those guys that wants to throw on a tank to go lobstering in a 20 ft reef.
I'm certified too, and regularly do both. They're both awesome as shit and if you haven't tried both you're missing out.
That said there are some hipsters that freedive, but they're the kind of people that buy a mask (no fins, want my feet to be free!) and take pictures at 10 ft to upload on instagram. It's the same as seeing the hipsters that build pallet coffee tables to take pictures of to upload on instagram and then saying
>carpentry is for hipsterfags, hurr durrwhen that's not true at all; the majority of carpenters are middle-aged alcoholics that hate their wives and are massively disappointed in their children.
>>14526Hi mad scientist.
>>15161Been to seabase. Florida native here. It's cool as shit.
If you live in FL you best be taking advantage of the 3 reeflines you can swim to from the shore.
