>>1640608So you mean of trail cross country skiing, It's a lot of fun, one of my favorite things to do outside. Like the other guy said you can get some used gear cheap, but be careful. A lot of what's out there is skinny skis for groomed trails or skate skiing, and if you go bushwhacking with that you won't have the best time, you want wider touring skis.
If you're serious about it, in the woods ideally you want backcountry skis, which are shorter and wider, and usually have a metal edge and an hourglass shape to make turning easier on downhills.
