So last time I posted about my experiment attempting to stock an isolated pond with Redfin pickerel I told yall that at least some of the 40 I introduced did in fact survive the winter. Here is the most significant news yet! I spotted a juvenile in the shallows yesterday which means they have in fact reproduced! There seem to be ample minnows for prey, but I'm still working on culling as many crappie and warmouth as possible. In any event, as an expert on the Redfin pickerel I can confidently say that the first recorded attempt to stock an isolated pond with Redfin seems to be a success, tho the measure of this success will only be known in the years to come.
