The anon who started growing food on his balcony for the first time this year (
>>2415032 ) and had the aphid infestation (
>>2433381 ) here with a small update, even if I am nowhere near the level you anons are at.
Aphids are finally gone, I repeatedly sprayed the plants with a mix of water, soap and some oil, also took the worst of the pots into the shower and removed a lot of aphids manually in there (I don't have a hose on my balcony). Plants are recovering, should get a few more harvests out of them before their time is over for this year.
I also managed to save some seeds already, will keep harvesting some more seedpots as they get ready.
Chard is growing amazing, as is the sorrel, faster than I can use them up actually. Chilis are ready for harvest soon.
Picrel, I had added cucumbers as a bit of an afterthought and one is growing nicely. Some smaller ones growing too. Probably not enough to make a pickle worth it, but I may eat them as smashed cucumbers or something. Since it's such a small stem essentially growing up unsupported along the lights, should I add some sort of net or something to take the weight of the cucumber off of the plant? Or should the plant be able to carry it no problem?
Also how do I know if a chili is ripe? I don't know when to harvest, once it has gained color all over? Or wait? If so, how long?
