>>1676167The thing I don't get is why you would trust a condom for this. not only are there the issues with how to get a substantial amount of water into it, even putting it into a sock really wouldn't protect it that much, and it would still have the issue that someone else mentioned about wanting to contract back into shape and pushing all the water out.
Why would you not just throw a couple of plastic grocery bags in your kit? double/triple bagging would make it really durable, it has handles, and you don't have to force water into it. Hell, if you had some tape in your kit like OP mentioned, you could even patch a bag if it got a hole, whereas the condom would just pop and be gone. And how much space does a bag take up? Hell, put all the other stuff for your kit IN the bag, then move that junk to your pockets and use the bag for water if you end up in a survival situation. Infact, trash bags would probably be far more durable and have drawstrings to close them up and make them easy to carry. The ziplock bag someone else mentioned would also work well. Hell, you could even tuck a couple grocery bags in between other items.
I feel like people overthink this stuff and ignore simple solutions.
