And it doesn't take up that much space. One closet, the space under the stairs, and behind the couch can have two years of food, water, and general supplies.
During the great depression there were brownouts for years.
Worst case, the whole grid could be down for years. Especially since we no longer make necessary parts for the power grid in the US, so even if we had every bit of resources and manpower, it would still take an extremely long time.
