I dont find any of these philosophical explanations for why we feel alienated particularly compelling. only science, that is to say theories based on experimentation and observable phenomena hold any water, for me.
to put this another way: any model, philosophical or otherwise, that attempts to explain human thought and behavior, but does not also explain animal thought and behavior, is a broken model. humans always see things with this arbitrary line of distinction between us and everything else, but that line just doesnt exist.
