They have different laws when it comes to fires, camping etc. England + Wales(to left of the bottom line) are much MUCH stricter than Scotland. Wild camping and fires are illegal in England and Wales. Not that you can't get away with it if you're stealthy.
But to avoid any possible ramifications, if you're camping in the UK, you really are better off in Scotland. It has a lower population density as well.
