I had a bit of a baby's first urban exploration experience today. It's a little anticlimactic, but maybe somebody can tell me what this thing is.
I was mountain biking at a park I'd never been to before when the singletrack trail I was on intersected a double track trail. I wanted to see where it went, so I followed it. It wasn't long until I realized that it was a maintence road for a power line that runs through the woods, but by that time I had noticed that I wasn't the first cyclist to go through there recently, so I kept going. Eventually I came upon this. Before /out/ I wouldn't have given it much thought, but I decided to see what was in there. It was surrounded by a fence topped with barbed wire, but the gate had been left open.
It's just a big hole in the ground
