Still, try to explain why most people go camping in areas filled with trees with a heavy tent and an inflatable pad, not to mention, Nalgenes because that's what everyone uses, gas stoves because "is there even another type of stove?", softshells and pack covers because "ponchos are fo dorks", overpriced dehydrated foods because they don't know anything else, specialized waterproof stuff sacks and, last but not least, a complete tableware set full with dinner plates and forks.
Just look at people all around you, what you consider to be obvious isn't to most people.
